Bathroom- Planning

This is a bit more of a note to myself than anything, as I’m about 3 weeks out from delivery and stressed. It’s a weird stagnant period, stuck in limbo, trying to save in order to prepare and not being able to move forward with anything until our new trailer gets delivered.

I’ve been constantly ‘walking through’ the 3D model and trying to imagine where things will go, and how I might tweak the layout and storage options to improve the livability.

Of course the biggest issue with tiny home living is storage, and I am so lucky that this trailer has enough space to try and incorporate more storage. The first of which is switching out the mirror for one that has a medicine cabinet feature. Of course it has a fan to outside but being a bathroom, with high humidity and the most prone to any mold & mildew, a small countertop dehumidifier seems to be a perfect option. Add in the same backsplash as the kitchen to tie the two together.

While the trailer does come roughed in for a washer/dryer, with already having such limited closet space it seemed a waste to take it all up. Being a smaller household we’ve decided to go the rout of the GE Washer & Dryer Combo, merging our washing and drying into one unit. I didn’t realize but you can also get a laundry pedestal with a lower drawer to not only act as laundry storage, but to also elevate the unit and make draining the water condenser that much easier. This means, dirty laundry has a space out of sight and we still have the upper portion of the closet for clothing and storage.

We did make the decision to switch out our second bathroom for a pantry, so of course one bathroom with two women in and out needs an extra layer of privacy. I’m really hoping a frosted privacy window film will be perfect for the shower. Another additional storage option is an over-the-toilet cabinet, that also avoids hanging anything off of and adding weight to the walls.

Without having an exact delivery date yet I’m holding off on actually purchasing anything as we don’t have the room to store everything indefinitely but oh gosh, it helps (kind of!) to have some sort of a plan and thoughts organized into one space. Hopefully in a couple of weeks I’ll be able to revisit & run through this list, and give you guys a full update as to how it all goes.

Have you done a recent small space or bathroom update or renovation?
What is the one thing that you find makes the most difference in your space??
