My Favourite Youtube Channels- Gardening

This is my first winter in between growing seasons and I have to say, I love the seasonality of gardening in the northern hemisphere. Its a full throttle adventure throughout the other seasons, spring planting, summer weeding and maintenance, and fall harvest and preserving. But winter offers a different sort of atmosphere, one of rest and regeneration with cozy blankets and tea while flipping through seed magazine, reading gardening books, going through recipes, and planning for the year ahead. Some of my favourite inspiration come from Youtube and it’s amazing content creators. I’m sure you’ve heard of some, but if you’re looking for inspiration during these cold months, these are my go-to’s!

Jess and her family are amazing homesteaders, while putting a focus on not only growing her own vegetables, but also on the resulting recipes! She is so positive and uplifting and the reason I took the dive into gardening in the first place. She never forgets that gardening has an emotional pull, not just a ‘how-to’.

I think I admire Kevin most for his business sense, seeing how he has grown his business and channel while making his small urban garden as efficient as possible with solar panels and water collection.

Migardener does some amazing how-to videos that are always informative and comprehensive.

If I had to fan girl over one channel, this one would be it. I LOVE how Huw Richards also focused on recording his harvest and efficiency of his garden, he even wrote a book about it! I started watching his channel because he garden’s in Wales, my grandpa’s home country, but I stayed for the garden technique and the tips & tricks he shares along the way!

Bree has an amazing focus on native species, biodiversity and eco-friendly gardening techniques. Ironically this is not an oxymoron, and I’ve learned how so many common gardening practices can actually damage and drain our soil, as well as spread invasive species!

Catherine is seriously just the sweetest and she’s got the cutest UK backyard garden that just goes to show you can do beautiful things in a small space.

I came across Nicole’s channel as she was preparing to open her greenhouse and just WOW! She’s goofy and quirky, and just so authentically herself while building her business and raising a family in the midst of it all!

Jessie at B.A.R.E flower farm gives the realest talks about money & flower farming, and I love it. Some people will try to seem like they’re doing better than they really are and maybe inflate their numbers, but Jessie gives it to you straight. She tells you what works and what doesn’t, she shows you what to expect without the hocus pocus.

It’s unfortunate that your standard tv channels seem to have veered away from gardening shows but these creators more than make up for it and they are all binge worthy! So whether it’s your first year growing or you’re just looking for some inspiration definitely check these channels out!

I can’t wait to see how you grow this year!
